Using the ancient Artisan traditions of their Mayan ancestors, women in Guatemala create these unique shades using natural plant dyes made from local rosa de Jamaica fresco - the hibiscus flower - as well as cacao husks, orange peels, and coffee.

Once their threads are dyed and hung to dry, the women gather together and weave their kimonos on backstrap looms. This pattern represents the cacao seed which is very special to the Mayan people. It takes one Artisan a week to make one kimono from start to finish!
